Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Office for People With Developmental Disabilities priority is the health and safety of the statewide 128,000 individuals with developmental disabilities receiving agency's support. As a Direct Support Assistant, you would help individuals with developmental disabilities lead richer lives. Under supervision these positions will; o Provide supports and services. o Advocate, encourage, guide and teach individuals in expressing personal choice. o Ensure community integration. o Assist individuals with personal hygiene care, toileting, dining, dressing, meal preparation, lifts and transfers. o Help individuals to participate in games and recreational programs. o Coach and encourage individuals to develop daily living skills. o Provide a clean safe and comfortable environment. o Work with other staff to carry out and record care plans. o Administer medication in accordance with special instructions. Salary Range:
From $54444 to $58492 Annually
Minimum Qualification
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
o You must have a high school diploma or an equivalency, such as a GED. o You must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. You will be required to maintain a valid driver's license throughout your employment as a DSA. o You must meet physical and agility standards. A valid New York State driver license to operate a Motor Vehicle REQUIRED; Ability to drive a 15-passenger van preferred; Must be current in certification of AMAP, Promote, First Aid, CPR and all SLMS online Trainings.
